Process

Step-by-step process

The same sequence every home in Tamil Nadu follows. We help you at every step.

  1. Step 1

    Register on pmsuryaghar.gov.in

Register on the PM Surya Ghar portal using your TNPDCL consumer number and apply for rooftop solar.

  2. Step 2

    TNPDCL feasibility approval

TNPDCL checks your connection and approves the rooftop solar installation.

  3. Step 3

    Installation

An empanelled vendor installs the system using DCR/ALMM-listed solar panels.

  4. Step 4

    Net meter and inspection

TNPDCL installs the net meter and inspects the system.

  5. Step 5

    Commissioning

The system is commissioned and starts sending extra power to the grid.

  6. Step 6

    Subsidy to your bank

The central subsidy is paid through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) to your bank account.

How long does it take? Typically several weeks; depends on TNPDCL.

Avoid delays

Common reasons applications get stuck or rejected

  • The name on the EB / TNPDCL service connection does not match the name on Aadhaar or bank records.
  • Bank details are wrong (account number or IFSC), or the account is inactive.
  • Roof ownership proof is missing or is in a different name.
  • The panels are not DCR/ALMM-listed, or the installer is not an empanelled vendor.
  • The sanctioned load on the connection is lower than the solar system size.
  • Photos or documents uploaded to the portal are unclear or incomplete.

For a name change on your connection, load changes or net-meter questions, call the TNPDCL helpline:1912
